Well Said Wednesday: Life *Does* Move Pretty Fast

January 04, 2023 in Fear & Loathing in Mktg, The Writing Habit

When I was a kid, my Dad (whom most people called Lefty) used to tell me that time goes faster as you get older. Ferris Bueller made the same point -- life moves pretty fast.

As someone who is stunned -- literally stunned -- that the calendar now says 2023, these truths feel "truer" to me as we march into a brand new year.

Let's face it, 2023 is gonna go by in a flash. But that flash still contains 360-odd days to:

  • Write that book

  • Boost your business

  • Exorcise limited marketing myths

  • Be seen and be heard authentically and consistently

  • Get sh*t done

So consider these two opportunities to make the most of this speedy year:

1. Join A Merry Band of Co-workers

On Fridays, We Write is a live, three-hour virtual co-working session hosted every Friday by me. It's non-negotiable time to work on what you need to do -- writing, planning, getting sh*t done.

Speaking of time flying... you've only got until Thursday at midnight Pacific time to reserve your space in On Fridays, We Write for the month of January or Q1 of 2023. Details are here.

2. Shake Up Your Limiting Thinking About Marketing

Marketing Mindset Reset is a live, 90-minute webinar designed to shake loose the thoughts, doubts and confusion that lead you to half-*ssing your marketing.

You don't want to sleep on this opportunity, either. The webinar is coming up fast -- January 11 -- and once it's full, it's not happening again until April. Details are here.

Time flies when you're having fun.

Time flies when you get stuff done.

Time just flies, so you might as well make the most of it.

See you Friday? Or Wednesday? Or both?

“Well Said Wednesday” is a blog by Barbara Govednik, Message Strategist, Editor and Founder of 4.23 Communication. It’s published every other Wednesday…ish.

The presumption is that there’s only one way to do it and that you must manipulate and tamp down your true voice – and your very message – to fit that form.

It’s not true.

Well Said Wednesday: ICYMI: Clean Up On Aisle Seven

What I had out there was a little junky, a little hodgepodge, a little chaotic. (Oh, the irony.) But also super common. So common, in fact, that I am willing to call myself out for it!

Message chaos happens three ways:

Well Said Wednesday: When the tank runs dry...

This month, I am doing some deep work within my business. I am sussing out the ways I can bring the most help, support, structure and sanity to my fellow small business owners. I am designing ways for them to embody their message, in the simplest, yet most compelling ways.

And I’m running through Sharpies and Post It’s like it’s my job! (Well, for now it kind of is my job.)

Your inner critic will tell you plainly that you’re about to embarrass yourself or that you can’t say that. It’s a shifty, narrow-minded, unhappy entity that entices you to backspace, delete and spend your writing time listening to the entire catalog of The Police. Well Said Wednesday, Again: Unsubscribes For The Win!

I could feel myself teetering on the edge of "why bother" last Monday. (Yep, even people who do this for a living and who know that content marketing is a long game of trust building and credential establishing have weak moments.)
