Truth:

Being seen and heard is just part of the business ownership gig.

When you just don’t want to do it, read this.

We are wired to devote our time and attention to the things we love and are good at, and ignore the stuff we’re not.

It’s the truth that launched a million small businesses – doing the stuff others prefer to avoid. Maybe that’s the origin story of your business. It’s definitely mine. (And why I have a coach, a tech guru, a bookkeeper and an accountant.)

We are educated and “influenced” away from trusting our own voice, our true expression.

And there’s also that stomach-pit thing that happens when we’re about to put ourselves out there on behalf of our businesses. It makes us skittish and morphs into the falsehood that we have nothing to say.

Not true.

You have many somethings to say.

In fact, your genius work is demanding that you show up, be seen and be well said.

Because success isn’t fictional, but it’s not magical either.

You have to show up, be seen and be well said.

But you also get to show up, be seen and be well said as you. In all your square peg-ness. Without sanding down any edges.

(And really, isn’t it possible that square pegs weren’t created with round holes in mind at all? Who declared that round holes were the be-all and end-all?)

So call in the creageous: your creative and courageous self.

Because there is one immutable truth:

You don’t get to do your genius work (and get paid for it) if nobody knows about or understands your genius work.

So repeat after me and get out of your own way:

* Your Message Mantra *

“I owe it to my genius work to be well said about what I do.

It doesn’t have to be brassy and loud.

It doesn’t have to make me crazy or make me feel like an imposter in my own world.

But it has to be something.

I will embody my message as the beating heart of my business.

My people will hear it.

Now maybe repeat it again. 😉

You’ve got this.

“I just had to let you know that I changed my "What we do" page last week. I am convinced the language you recommended is what inspired a Miami-based business to give me a call! Thank you for your gift of words and understanding me.”
