4.23 Communication

Well Said Wednesday: Winging It Works...Until It Doesn't

It's time to send the newsletter to all those folks who agreed to hear from you.

So you pop into a coffee shop between meetings, crank something out, hit send, feel accomplished.

Goal achieved!

Then there's the home page for the new program you're launch soon that also needs to be written.

You put it on your to do list for Tuesday, which slips to Friday, which slips to Sunday.

So you hit the computer instead of enjoying a relaxing Sunday night, crank something out, post it, feel accomplished...sort of.

Goal achieved?

Yes, but there's something else.

A nagging little question of "did I just half-*ss something important to my business?"

There's also the exhaustion. Screeching up against deadlines all the time trying to force yourself into thinking strategically and writing authentically wears a person out!

No wonder you think you're "not creative" or "a terrible writer."

You are neither. You just don't have a process for creating content for your business.

Process is a key piece to setting yourself up to whole-*ss your business messaging. (Along with plan and practice; topics for another day)

It's part setting the mood...

  • create a distraction-free zone

  • mute the inner critic voices

  • fortify your senses with good music, good coffee or whatever makes you happy

It's part setting the intention...

  • knowing who your talking to

  • getting clear on what you need to say

  • being even clearer on why

Now you've set yourself up with a process to get the work done.
